Special Education Law

Special education laws were first developed at the federal level and then at the state level. The basis for most special education law is found in three federal statutes: The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 19073, and the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
