To provide professional development and technical assistance to youth, families, communities, and local education agencies to support programs and services to improve academic, social-emotional, and behavioral outcomes for all students through the selection, integration, and implementation of evidence-based behavioral practices.

Social, emotional, and behavioral development refers to the skills students use to understand and manage emotions, build positive relationships, make responsible decisions, and engage successfully in learning. These competencies are essential for academic success and lifelong well-being.

Through professional learning, coaching, and resources, LEEI helps educators implement evidence-based practices—such as PBIS, trauma-informed approaches, and restorative practices—to proactively teach and support these skills. The initiative emphasizes prevention, early intervention, and intensive supports to ensure equitable outcomes for all students, including those with complex needs.

The Learning Environment and Engagement Team supports educators, administrators, and program leaders in creating and sustaining effective learning environments to drive continuous improvement, foster engagement, and ensure that all initiatives are grounded in proven strategies and informed by data.
