Cybersecurity
Cybersecurity Overview:
What is Cybersecurity?
In Keeping our information secure and computers safe is what cybersecurity is all about. In a nutshell, it's protecting everything on our computers from nosy peekers. This includes things we don't want anyone to see (confidentiality), mess with (integrity), or block us from accessing (availability).
Think of it like trusting someone. Strong cybersecurity lets us trust banks with our online money, doctors with our health records, and online stores with our credit cards. There's a lot more to cybersecurity than meets the eye, but everyone can learn the basics to stay safe. On the other hand, there are also cybersecurity professionals who build and defend the complex systems that keep us all protected.

Why Teach Cybersecurity?
The growing reliance on technology in schools necessitates a focus on cybersecurity education. This equips students with the skills to become responsible digital citizens. By understanding online threats, students can take control of their safety and navigate the digital world with confidence.
Also, our online world, from personal data to national security, is under constant attack. While cybersecurity professionals are our frontline defense, there's a critical shortage of over 570,000 in the U.S. Filling these gaps is essential to safeguard organizations, fuel American cybersecurity innovation, and build a workforce. To empower everyone to defend themselves online, cybersecurity education needs to start as early as kindergarten.
